Turkey has condemned the recent terrorist attacks killing and injuring scores in Somalia.
Releasing a written statement late on Wednesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Turkey was concerned over the latest terrorist attacks targeting newly-inaugurated Somali legislators, members of the parliament and President Hassan Skeikh Mohamud.
Expressing grief over last week's killing of Somali politician Mustafa Haji Mohamed in Mogadishu, the ministry said Turkey extended its condolences to the people of Somalia over the loss of lives in these heinous attacks.
The statement underscored that terrorism had no religion or nationality, but it constituted a crime against humanity.
"Turkey will continue to act in solidarity with the government and people of Somalia in their rightful fight against terrorism," the statement noted.
Last week, a suicide bombing killed scores at a Mogadishu cafe frequented by politicians and journalists. Police reported that the attack had been likely carried out by the al-Qaida affiliated Al-Shabab.
On Saturday, politician Mustafa Haji Mohamed, the father-in-law of former president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, was shot dead in another attack in the Somali capital.
