TUNIS
A Tunisian policeman has been detained in connection with investigations into last week's deadly museum attack in capital Tunis, a court spokesman has said.
"[Prosecutors] have ordered the detention of a policeman tasked with guarding the Bardo museum pending investigations [into the attack]," Sufian al-Sulayti told The Anadolu Agency.
It is unclear whether he will be charged in connection with the attack, which left at least 23 people dead – mostly foreign tourists – when gunmen attacked the museum last Wednesday.
Earlier Monday, Tunisian Interior Minister Najem Gharsalli sacked several senior security officials over the attack.
In 2002, at least 14 people, including seven foreign tourists, were killed in an attack on a Jewish synagogue in western Tunisia.
