WASHINGTON
Three people were killed Saturday morning in the US state of Maryland after a gunman opened fire in a busy shopping mall.
Two employees at the Columbia Mall were killed, as well as the suspected shooter, who was found dead with a shotgun lying nearby, Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon told journalists. Police believe he shot himself.
The body was found near a large amount of ammunition, police said. Five others were injured during the ordeal.
“This should not happen at the Columbia Mall. It shouldn't happen anywhere," said McMahon.
Police are currently attempting to identify the shooter and determine a motive.
