ALEPPO (AA) - August 2, 2012 - As the Free Syrian Army battles government forces to gain full control of the country's largest city and main commercial hub Aleppo, rebels say they lack ammunition.
"We have no ammo for our anti-aircraft guns and rocket launchers. And we need bullets for our machine rifles as well. I believe we would control the city in a few days if we receive ammunition," Ahmad Al Hatip with the FSA Brigade Tawhid told the Anadolu Agency at a headquarters which commands around 5,000 rebels fighting for Aleppo.
London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday that the rebels shelled a military airport near Aleppo with tanks they had captured from Assad forces in what is reportedly the first use of heavy weapons in the anti-regime revolt since it began in March of 2011.
