Two people were killed and at least one person seriously injured in a knife attack at an IKEA furniture store in Sweden on Monday, Swedish media reported.

Doctors were reportedly trying to save the life of a 35-year-old man with life-threating wounds from the attack. Head of IKEA store Mattias Johansso told Aftonbladet daily that at least three customers were injured in the incident.

The attack took place in the afternoon at an IKEA store in Vasteras, located some 108 kilometers west of the capital Stockholm.

Aftonbladet reported that authorities had arrested a male suspect, adding that eyewitnesses saw several men carrying out the attack inside the store.

The IKEA store has now been evacuated and closed, IKEA spokeswoman Anna Pilkrona Godden told Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
