The incidents in Syria halted all sports as in other aspects of daily life.
The majority of the sports clubs decided to shut down due to security reasons and many sportsmen and sportswomen fled the country.
Muhammed Karacaoglu who fled to Turkey from the town of Latakia with his family two months ago said, "First football came to a halt and stopped fully six months ago. Some sportsmen and sportswomen escaped to Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey and some others are trying to survive in safe areas. At the moment, there is nothing left in the name of sports including football and basketball in the country."
Karacaoglu stated that he exercised regularly and his biggest dream was to play in a Turkish team.
