Russia not invited to France for D-Day anniversary

PARIS 

Russia is no longer invited to the ceremony marking the 70th anniverasry of the battle of Normandy due to be held on June 6, announced France’s FM Laurent Fabius on Tuesday.

France has planned to hold celebrations of the Allied Forces landing in Normandy. Every year France invites different countries to take part in the celebrations of the battle of Normandy. This year France has invited the Group of 8 countries, yet only 7 countries will gather for the events. 

Fabius told French radio Europe-I that the G8 countries have decided to suspend the participation of Russian delegates in the celebrations, yet Russian President Vladimir Putin is still invited.
