Former US President Donald Trump arrived at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, making his first appearance since an assassination attempt against him over the weekend.
Walking out at the RNC, where the Republican Party formally nominated him as its presidential candidate for the 2024 election, he raised his fist in the air.
Trump had a large bandage on his right ear where he was shot during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was shot and killed by the Secret Service at the venue.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that the army will remain in the Gaza-Egypt border area known as the Philadelphi Corridor, stressing that the Cabinet will decide on the matter in a vote.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is known to oppose Netanyahu's position on keeping Israeli soldiers in the area.
Speaking to Channel 14, Netanyahu said Israel will remain in the Philadelphi Corridor, and that it has "political and security privileges."
The Biden administration announced that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be protected by the Secret Service following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
"In light of this weekend's events, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide protection to Robert Kennedy Jr.," said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a White House press briefing.
Mayorkas said the Secret Service enhanced Trump's protection based on the "evolving nature of threats to the former president."

Germany's veteran attacker Thomas Muller announced his retirement from international football.
"Fourteen years ago when I started my first international match in the German national team over 14 years ago I would never have dreamed of all this let great victories and bitter ones," the 34-year-old said in a farewell YouTube video. "After 131 international matches and 45 goals I say goodbye to the German eagles today."
Muller bagged the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany, in which he contributed with 45 goals and 41 assists in 131 national appearances. He became the top scorer of the 2010 World Cup with five goals.
BUSINESS & ECONOMY
Canada's manufacturing sales rose 0.4% to reach $71.4 billion in May, according to figures released by the country's statistical agency.
The market expectation for the figure was to show an increase of 0.3%.
The figure for April, meanwhile, was unrevised at an increase of 1.1%.
