ANKARA
Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdzija, has told AA correspondent on Thursday that the situation in Syria is very similar to the Bosnian tragedy happened in 1992-1995 and international community should take lessons from it.
Lagumdzija reminded that international community was more determined intervening in Libya under the umbrella of UN and called for applying the principles advocated by the international community.
He said that everybody knows that the regime in Syria ended but the question is "when the fighting is going to end and how many people are going to die".
Clear EU perspective is an important motivator
Zlatko Lagumdzija has said, "A clear perspective of the EU is the most important motivator in the region. In order to survive the political and social hardship, we continue to need this perspective."
Speaking at a conference in Istanbul on the occasion of centennial anniversary of the the Balkan Wars, he said, "I would like to thank Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Turkey. They have never isolated us when we were joining the NATO and entering the EU, furthermore they gave us more accelerate. In the scope of regional cooperation, the support we receive from Turkey has such importance."
Lagumdzija stressed the importance of European Union in the region and said, "The year of 1914 has caused many changes and our countries lost a lot. Today, either under the flag of NATO or the EU, we will remember our features and live in peace altogether."
