Jordan on Saturday denied reports about denying Egyptians entry from the al-Omari crossing on border with Saudi Arabia.
"We have not taken any decision to prevent Egyptians from entering Jordan through the crossing," Mohammed al-Momani, Jordan's state minister for media affairs, told Anadolu Agency over the phone.
Egyptian media had reported that Jordanian authorities had prevented Egyptians returning from Saudi Arabia from entering the kingdom.
Al-Momani, however, said that some people were denied access because they lacked necessary work permits or identification papers.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Ati said the Egyptian government had contacted the Jordanian government to make sure that Egyptians are not prevented from entering Jordan through al-Omari crossing.
More than half a million Egyptians live and work in Jordan, according to Ashraf Kilani, a press advisor at the Egyptian embassy in Amman.
