ISTANBUL/JEDDAH
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that it was unrealistic to expect unarmed observers to stop the whole violence in Syria.
Things cannot go on like this in Syria. Tens of people are being killed everyday in the country. I think nearly 10,000 people have been killed so far. All parties should end violence so that a dialogue can begin in order to bring a political solution to the problem, Ban told reporters in Istanbul.

Ban will meet Ihsanoglu within the scope of his formal visit to Saudi Arabia.
