ISTANBUL
Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi said that Iraq needed a new change and reform.
Speaking at a conference in Istanbul, Hashimi said that the failure in reforms in Iraq stemmed from people's not governing themselves, adding that nothing happened in the country after the movement of change in 2003.
If life conditions of citizens have not changed, then it means that there is no reform in that country, said Hashimi, adding that poverty in Iraq increased from 17 percent to 30 percent after the reform.
Hashimi said that U.S. soldiers withdrew from Iraq by saying they left a modern country behind, however, Iraq was not a modern country.
Hashimi also said that Turkey had always supported Iraq and Iraqi people.
