TEHRAN
Iran has stated that it would abide by the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation Nuclear Weapons and benefit from all the rights stemming from NPT.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Iran, Ramin Mehmanparsat, made a statement about next round of talks between Iran, '5+1' and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at a weekly press conference.
Mehmanparsat stated that they would keep cooperating with IAEA. Next IAEA meeting is going to take place in Vienna, Austria on May 14-15. He also stressed that Vienna debate would have indirect effects on '5+1' meeting. '5+1' countries' meeting is set to be held in Baghdad, Iraq on May 23.
Mehmanparsat underlined that it's every country's right to obtain peaceful nuclear energy, which was recorded by NPT and IAEA. Mehmanparsat also pointed that it's out of question to even discuss Iran's giving up on using nuclear energy. "We will abide by NPT yet we will benefit from all the rights that we gain under NPT," he said.
Furthermore, Mehmanparsat said that they would work for resolving the suspicions over Iran's nuclear energy projects during talks in Vienna.
