ANKARA
The independent candidate of presidential election in Egypt, Abdul Moneim Aboul Fotouh, made a formal application to supreme election committee to stop declaring votes to the public on Monday.
Hani Mahmoud, Fotouh's political affairs adviser, claimed that there was obvious vote rigging in the elections.
"900,000 votes have been used manipulatively. These votes contain multiple votes as well as soldiers' votes who are not valid to vote in the election," said Mahmoud to the AA correspondent.
Claiming that many voted despite their name not being on the list, Mahmoud said that several people had voted second time in different places.
"Because of these reasons, Fotouh's barrister made formal application to the supreme election committee to stop announcing votes on May 29," Mahmoud stated.
Abdul Moneim Aboul Fotouh had received 17,6 percent of the votes in the election, and he had become the fourth in the election.
The leader of Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party Mohammed Mursi and Ahmed Shafik, Egypt's last prime minister under Mubarak, will compete in the second round of the presidential election which will take place on June 16-17.
The new president of Egypt will be made public on June 21 and take over the office on July 1.
