An army hospital where Pakistan`s former president and army chief General Pervez Musharraf is being treated for cardiac illness caught fire on Wednesday.
However, the fire was extinguished shortly after it started and there were no injuries, hospital officials have told Anadolu Agency.
"The fire broke out in a room on the third floor of the hospital apparently due to a short circuit," a hospital official told Anadolu Agency on the condition of anonimty. "It was not a huge fire, and it was extinguished by the hospital staff shortly after," the official said.
General Musharraf who suffered a heart attack on January 2 while on his way to attend a special court that is trying him for high treason, is being treated in the basement of the hospital.
"General Musharraf is completely safe and his health is improving," the official confirmed.
