MOSCOW
It is dangerous and counterproductive to try and force upon Ukraine a choice based on the principle of ‘You are either with us or against us,’ Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters on Tuesday after holding talks with his Luxembourg's counterpart Jean Asselborn.
"Ukraine has to be part of a global European family in the full meaning of the term,” Lavrov noted.
“We confirmed our principled position of non-interference into Ukraine’s internal affairs. We hope that everybody will adhere to similar positions and maintain contact will all political forces in Ukraine,” the foreign minister continued.
Lavrov also noted that the scheduling of early presidential elections for May in Ukraine is a violation of the agreement dated February 21.
As for news reports regarding a ban on Russian companies broadcasting in Ukraine, Lavrov stressed that it would be a serious violation of freedom of speech if such a decision were taken.
