Syrian premier defects from al-Assad regime due to massacres
IRBIL (AA) - August 7, 2012 - Syrian National Council (SNC) executive member Bassam Ishak has said that Prime Minister Riad Hijab defected to opponents due to massacres in the country.
Ishak told AA on Tuesday that Hijab defected to opponents because of the massacres committed by Bashar al-Assad's forces.
Break of Hijab has clearly shown the separation in al-Assad administration, Ishak said.
Expressing pleasure over Hijab's joining their side, Ishak said that resignation of Hijab had been one of the most important ones so far.
Hijab resigned due to attacks and massacres staged by al-Assad administration in several regions of the country, said Ishak, adding that the resignation came especially after the massacres committed in Deir ez-Zor, the birth place of the prime minister.
