A British banker continues to be questioned Sunday after being arrested for murder following the discovery of the naked bodies of two young women in his bloodied apartment on the 31st-floor of a downtown Hong Kong complex.

The 29-year-old, who reportedly works for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, was arrested Saturday after he himself called police, the South China Morning Post reported Sunday.

Officers found the body of one woman, aged between 25 to 30 with her throat slit, in the flat's living room. Hours later, the body of the second woman, thought to be Indonesian and aged 25, was found crammed in a suitcase on the apartment's balcony.

It was believed the women were prostitutes of Southeast Asian or Asian ethnicity, the report said.

Police said the body in the suitcase had been there for three to four days and had started to decompose.

The report said cocaine was found in the living room and quoted a police source as saying it was being investigated as to whether the suspect was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

Hong Kong, an international financial center, is home to a large community of expatriate bankers who work long hours. Occasionally, the stressed - but well-paid - bankers are involved in grisly crimes.

In one of the most famous cases, the wife of banker Robert Kissel was convicted of killing him by bludgeoning him to death with a lead ornament.

The murder, which took place in 2003, saw Nancy Kissel first incapacitate her husband by giving him a drug-laced milkshake. Nancy Kissel was then dubbed the "milkshake murderer."
