BAGHDAD
At least 28 people were killed and over 50 injured in three explosions that rocked an electoral rally in eastern Baghdad on Friday, a police source said.
Two booby-trapped cars went off at the rally, which was staged by the Shiite Asaib Ahl al-Haq group at eastern Baghdad's Industrial Stadium, shortly before a suicide bomber blew himself up among the crowd, the source said.
The death toll is likely to rise further due to the seriousness of some of the injuries, he added.
The attack comes only five days before scheduled parliamentary elections on April 30.
Recent months have seen an uptick in violence across Iraq. Although most attacks go unclaimed, Iraqi authorities usually point the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
