An unspecified number of Yemeni army troops were injured Monday when a bomb went off near their patrol in Yemen's southern Hadhramaut province, eyewitnesses have said.
According to witnesses, a roadside bomb went off as the patrol passed through Hadhramaut's Ghurfa district, leaving several soldiers wounded.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, witnesses pointed the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
On Sunday, an Al-Qaeda-linked group claimed responsibility for two deadly attacks that targeted army troops in the same province last week.
The attacks, the group said, were in response to the army's perceived collaboration with the Shiite Houthi militant group, which now controls capital Sanaa following weeks of massive anti-government protests this summer.
Yemen has been dogged by turmoil since pro-democracy protests forced autocratic president Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down in 2012 after 33 years in power.
In recent months, scores of security personnel have been killed in attacks across the country that officials blame on Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
