A total of 72 people including 16 children were killed in several cities of Syria on Monday during operations staged by forces loyal to the Syrian regime, activists said.
Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), a London-based group that tracks civilian and dissident casualties, said that Assad forces killed 23 in Aleppo, 22 in the suburbs of capital Damascus, 9 in Dera'a, 5 in Homs, 4 each in Idlib and Hama, 3 in Deir al-Zor and one each in Latakia and el-Haseqqeh in air and land offensives.
Meanwhile, Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) said fierce clashes continue in Aleppo city and Damascus between the Free Syrian Army and the regime forces.
SRGC added, the regime forces bombed a residential area near Minig military base in Aleppo city.
Moreover, Syria's state news agency SANA said regime forces made major gains against rebels.
