A Athens court suspended Monday the Greek government's move to shut down state broadcaster ERT.
In a case filed by Greek media unions including POSPERT, POESY and POEPTYM in an attempt to block the closure of ERT, the court ruled in favor of the unions, saying demands of the ERT workers were justified and decided that the ERT could restart the broadcasts and continue until ERT's restructuring was completed.
Media workers in Greece launched a 24-hour strike on Wednesday to protest the closure of the state-run television channel and radio network.
The government has said it had suspended all television channels and radio stations of ERT and that a new institution would be set up which would not be owned by the government.
