ISLAMABAD
Three separate blasts in Pakistan's southern city Karachi killed three members of an official paramilitary group, on Wednesday according to police.
"Two blasts occurred within a span of 15 minutes, while the third blast occurred after one and a half hours," Aamir Farooqi, a Karachi police chief, told reporters.
The first bomb exploded at 10am and injured three paramilitary personnel at a checkpoint in Karachi's central district. The injured were part of the Rangers paramilitary, which helps Karachi police with border security and curbing crime.
The second blast injured three more and targeted the police and Rangers who had arrived at the scene of the original blast to collect evidence.
Farooqi said both bombs were planted underneath a cemented block near the checkpoint.
Body parts were found at the scene of the third blast, which killed two passers-by outside the Rangers' local headquarters in central Karachi, leading officials to believe it was carried out by a suicide bomber.
