BAGHDAD

At least 20 ISIL militants and 15 Iraqi soldiers were killed in an attack by ISIL militants in western Iraqi city of Ramadi, according to government officials in Anbar district.

Ten other soldiers were wounded in the skirmish, officials said.

Meanwhile, clashes between ISIL militants and Kurdish fighters continue in Kurdish populated Kobani (Ayn al-Arab) town of northern Syria.

Smoke in the area can be seen also from Suruc district of Turkey's Sanliurfa near Turkey-Syria border crossing.

The Iraqi army and Peshmerga have been battling ISIL in Iraq since mid-June, when the terrorist group took control of Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq. The militant group is said to be now in control of large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

The U.S. is leading an international coalition, which includes France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, and has carried out numerous airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
