‘Paris is Charlie’ projected onto Arc de Triomphe

‘Paris is Charlie’ projected onto Arc de Triomphe

PARIS 

The phrase 'Paris est Charlie', meaning 'Paris is Charlie', is been projected on the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris on Friday.

Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo said it is "an act to pay tribute to the 12 victims killed in the attack on the offices of the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday."

The display is expected to remain illuminated through Saturday night.

The Eiffel Tower switched off its lights Thursday at 8 p.m. local time (1900GMT) as a tribute to the victims of the attack.
