Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends midweek with losses
Benchmark index drops 44.48 points at Wednesday's closing session
ISTANBUL
The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 11,193.88 points, down 0.4% from the previous close.
After starting the day at 11,273.34, the BIST 100 index lost 44.48 points from its close on Tuesday.
The lowest point for the index was 11,170.79, while the daily high was 11,316.54.
During the day, 26 indexes gained in value while 71 closed with losses.
The daily transaction volume reached 133.7 billion Turkish liras ($3.14 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.52 trillion liras ($247.7 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 42.6030 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 49.6405, and the British pound traded at 56.8120.
The price of an ounce of gold was $4,192.10, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $61.40.
