Türkiye has been elected as a member of the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the 2026-2029 term, the Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

“Türkiye’s election to UPU’s Council of Administration and Postal Operations Council is a concrete indication of Türkiye’s important place in the international postal sector as well as its active contribution to UPU’s work,” said the ministry.

The elections took place during the 28th Universal Postal Congress, hosted in Dubai.

The UPU, established in 1874, is one of the UN’s oldest specialized agencies and coordinates international postal policies among its 192 member countries.
