ISTANBUL
An exhibition featuring photographs from Anadolu's book The Witness, which exposes Israel's crimes in Gaza, opened in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The exhibition, hosted by the Umraniye Municipality of Istanbul and opened at the Umraniye Culture and Art Center, features about 50 photographs taken by Anadolu journalists in the region.
Speaking to Anadolu, Umraniye Mayor Ismet Yildirim stated that the second year of the massacre Israel has been carrying out in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has passed.
He said: "People with even a little compassion around the world stand with Gaza. Anadolu Agency took beautiful photographs depicting the atrocities in Gaza, and we exhibited them together in our municipality's exhibition hall."
Activist Said Ercan, who took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, said the books by Anadolu are being used as evidence in international courts.
Stating that he had the opportunity to witness the Israeli oppression closely and convey it to the young people during the exhibition on Tuesday, Ercan highlighted that Türkiye did not remain silent in the face of this oppression.
The Turkish National Education Ministry's launching of a program in schools to raise awareness about Gaza in connection with the Oct. 7 war is meaningful, the activist added.
The exhibition can be visited until Oct. 24.
The Israeli military has killed over 67,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The relentless bombardment has rendered the enclave uninhabitable and has led to mass displacement, starvation, and diseases.
