ANKARA
Anadolu Agency's March 30 local polls results were compliant with the official results announced by Turkey's elections authority, AA’s Director General and Chairman of the Board Kemal Ozturk said on Sunday in response to claims of 'unfair elections coverage' against the agency.
During a televised interview on a private Turkish network, Ozturk said AA's coverage was a success as it published the results directly from poll stations, a first in its history.
Ozturk accused some local media outlets of purposely targeting AA with 'baseless' claims. "We are owed an apology, and still waiting for it," he said.
Referring to March 30 local election results, Ozturk said that the Turkish people "reclaimed their government" against attacks.
The Turkish government has denounced as an "act of espionage" the leaking of a top security meeting in the Foreign Ministry shortly before elections.
