NEW YORK
According to daily New York Times, US, Germany and Netherlands will each send two Patriots to Turkey at the end of January but Germany and Netherlands could send it earlier if needed.
The system will be under NATO command and after the Patriots deployed in southeastern Turkey, they will be connected to NATO air defence systems.
It was said that the system will not be able to protect the whole region but rather will be deterrent and show the support of NATO to Turkey.
Meanwhile, it was reported that US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said, in an interview with CBS television, that he approved Patriots to be sent to Turkey along with 400 troops.
Germany State Minister Michael Link, said on Thursday that the Patriots would be deployed around southern province Kahramanmaras. German Parliament is expected to discuss the draft on deploying Patriots in Turkey on Friday.
