U.S. Department of Commerce Under Secretary Francisco J. Sanchez attended a meeting in Ankara organized by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, or TOBB on Tuesday.
Speaking at the opening of the "Defense and Aviation Industry" meeting, he said that he appreciated TOBB's works in the scope of increasing the cooperation between Turkey and U.S.
Sanchez said that the delegation alongside him included the representatives of leading U.S. defense industry firms and some who served in the U.S. army and cooperated with the Turkish army.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone said that U.S. President Barack Obama and his government attributed importance to Turkey-U.S. relations.
Ricciardone stated that there were representatives of 18 U.S. firms in the delegation and said "I am hoping that these businessmen who are in touch with Turkish firms will extend their contacts and the ones who are not having any business links will go ahead by signing agreements."
Vice President of TOBB Faik Yavuz drew attention to Turkish made products in the defense industry and said, "Now, our engineers design their own products and produce them."
