Besiktas to appeal arbitration court over UEFA ban
Turkey's premier division side Besiktas said it would challenge a ruling by Europe's top football governing body to suspend the Turkish team from European competitions for one year due to financial problems.
Besiktas president Fikret Orman said team's lawyers were set to file an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the ban and a fine of 200 thousand euros by UEFA's disciplinary committee.
The ruling follows an inspection of the team's financial accounts which concluded that Besiktas had violated UEFA regulations on financial fair play.
"This is a first in Besiktas' 110-year history. This is what saddens me the most," Orman said.
