CHICAGO
Turkey's president highlighted strategic importance of Turkish-U.S. relations.
President Abdullah Gul said that even though Turkish-U.S. relations had weakened from time to time, they always preserved their strategic importance.
"Two countries have always had strong relations," Gul said during a reception hosted in Chicago to mark May 19 Commemoration of Atuturk, and Youth and Sports Day.
Gul is in Chicago to attend NATO summit.
