BELGRADE
Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek, who is currently in Serbia, met Serbian National Parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic in Belgrade on Monday.
Cicek told a joint press conference that Turkey attached a great importance in cooperation with Serbia in accordance with sustainable stability and development in the Balkans.
Cicek underlined that every country in the region benefitted from the good relations between Turkey and Serbia.
Parliament Speaker Cicek explained that Turkey wanted support for its non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council (2015) and its bid to host EXPO 2020 in Izmir and 2020 Olympics in Istanbul.
Cicek talked with Nebojsa about the issue of opening of a Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Center in Belgrade and a consulate general in Novi Pazar, which is the cultural center of Bosniaks in Serbia.
Meanwhile, Cemil Cicek separately received Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, and State Minister Sulejman Ugljanin on Monday.
Cicek's meetings with the Serbian leaders took place behind closed doors.
Cicek and his delegation attended a luncheon hosted by Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic.
