Speaking to reporters in northern province of Amasya, Minister Davutoglu said that Annan conveyed his thoughts on the situation of security in Syria following the Houla and Hama massacres and information on his speeches to the UN Security Council and the general assembly.
"Annan conveyed his opinions on developing new diplomatic initiatives and asked for our opinions. Last week, 14 ministers from the UN Security Council and EU countries held consultations on Syria. I gave information to Annan on such consultations," Davutoglu stressed.
Every single day, we receive news of the dead and massacres from Syria. Such developments are painful for us as we consider Syria a brotherly country forever. We are doing the best we can, Davutoglu underlined.
We are closely monitoring the activities carried out by the United Nations on Syria, Davutoglu said.
The Syrian National Council and Syrian opposition will hold a comprehensive meeting in Istanbul on the weekend. Such a meeting is designed to end the pain in Syria as soon as possible. I have informed Annan on such developments as well, Davutoglu also said.
