PARIS
A Turkish film will compete in the short film category of this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The 65th Cannes Film Festival will take place between May 16 and 27. 91 films from almost 30 countries will be shown during the festival.
Turkish film titled "Sessiz" (Silent), directed by Rezan Yesilbas, will compete in the short films category in the festival.
Moreover, the movie, director and producers association in France will present Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan with "Carosse d'or" award on May 17.
The Carrosse d'Or (or Golden Coach), awarded by the Société des Réalisateurs de Films (SRF), rewards film-makers' courage and independence of thought. Previous recipients include Clint Eastwood, Nanni Moretti, David Cronenberg and Jim Jarmusch.
Before the award ceremony, Ceylan's "Clouds of May" film will be screened.
Ceylan won grand jury award at last year's Cannes Film Festival with his "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" film. He won best director award in the same festival in 2008 with his film "Three Monkeys".
Also, Turkish director Fatih Akin's "Polluting Paradise" film will be screened in the festival on May 18.
