ANKARA
Chairman of Turkey's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), Mukim Oztekin, has said that Turkish banking sector's size of assets reached 1.3 trillion TL in 2012.
BDDK stated on Wednesday that the Turkish banking sector grew 12.6 percent and its size of assets reached 1.3 trillion Turkish Lira (TL) in the past one year.
Oztekin explained on Wednesday the Turkish banking sector's 2012 figures at a meeting held by the Economy Reporters' Association in Turkish capital Ankara.
Oztekin stressed that they were optimistic for the future and said, "There are 10 years left to Turkey's 100th year and for 2023, we have big expectations and targets to achieve."
Oztekin said that the non-performing loans rose 4.4 billion TL compared to end of 2011 and reached 23.4 billion TL in 2012.
Head of Turkish banking regulatory authority, Oztekin stressed, the net profit of the sector was posted as 23.6 billion TL in 2012.
Credits of the Turkish banking sector increased 16.4 percent and reached 794.8 billion TL in December 2012 when compared to the end of 2011.
