COX'S BAZAR
Nearly 20 Turkish aid workers were released after they were taken under custody by Bangladeshi police as they asked to enter a refugee camp that shelters Rohingya Muslims along the border with Myanmar.
The 18 workers were briefly held at a police station in Cox's Bazar before they were let go on the condition that they did not "conduct any charity work", Sait Demir, head of team from a Turkey-base charity fund, told The Anadolu Agency.
"They are disturbed that we are here. We are kept under police surveillance at our hotel. The Bangladeshi government fears that more aid would draw more refugees. That's what it is all about," Demir said.
