SULAYMANIYAH, northern Iraq
Turkey's pro-Kurdish BDP party lawmakers went to the Kandil region in northern Iraq to meet leaders of the KCK organization affiliated to outlawed PKK armed group, before their scheduled meeting with Abdullah Ocalan, jailed leader of the PKK.
The BDP Group Deputy Chairwoman Pervin Buldan and Chairman Idris Baluken went to Kandil to meet KCK authorities, within the scope of the solution process to end PKK terrorism, BDP's Irbil representative Cemal Coskun told AA on Tuesday.
The two would send KCK's message on the ongoing solution process to Ocalan, Coskun said.
Turkey's 'solution process' began early last year with a ceasefire between the Turkish government and outlawed PKK terrorist organization. The government pledged democratic reforms to empower minorities, particularly the Kurdish minority, which is by far the largest forming 18 percent of the population.
