ANKARA
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated Turkey's first proton accelerator facility in Ankara.
Speaking at the ceremony, Erdogan said that the construction of the facility had been completed in 9.5 months, and cost nearly 45 million Turkish lira.
This is one the 20 facilities in such size in the world, he added.
Erdogan noted that the facility would also serve as a school and a laboratory in research & development, training and science areas.
This is the first research center having accelerator technology in Turkey, said Erdogan, adding that universities, institutes and researchers would benefit from the facility.
Studies on nuclear physics, electronic and even space researches will be carried out in the facilities, said Erdogan.
