LISBON (AA) - September 21, 2012 - Turkish Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis on Friday said that Turkey had no expectation for a date from the EU.
Speaking to reporters at the end of his official talks in Portugal, Bagis said that "Turkey did not have any expectation for a date from the EU. Whether or not we become an EU member is a second issue. We will discuss membership with our nation when the time comes".
"I was welcomed to Portugal warmly and held highly positive talks here. Portugal has always approached Turkey's EU process positively. I have seen a Portugal that approaches Turkey with more respect," Bagis stressed.
Minister Bagis will return to Istanbul on Friday evening.
