ISTANBUL (AA) - August 28, 2012 - Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay and his Bulgarian counterpart Vezhdi Rashidov on Tuesday signed two agreements on cooperation for joint film production and on the prevention of illegal cross-border moving of historical artifacts in a ceremony in Istanbul.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gunay said the agreements would open "new horizons" for the Turkish and Bulgarian movie industries, adding that his ministry was also working on a new law on cinema.
Gunay said agreement on the prevention of illegal cross-border moving of historical artifacts from Turkey was also of utmost importance as Bulgaria was the first stop in the Europe-bound smuggling.
Rashidov on his part expressed hope that the agreements would yield concrete results by bringing representatives of cinema sectors of the two countries.
Rashidov said nearly 500 pieces of Turkish historical artifacts had been seized lately in Bulgaria, which eh said would be returned to Turkey.
