Turkey: 9 arrested over suspected links to PKK/KCK

IZMIR, Turkey

Nine suspects have been arrested Thursday in Turkey's Aegean region as part of an operation against the PKK/KCK terror group, according to a security source.

Local anti-terror police raided addresses previously spotted in Izmir, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

A number of digital materials and documents related to the terror group were also seized during the operation, the source added.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
