A suspected Daesh member trying to illegally enter Turkey from Syria was killed in the southern Turkish province of Kilis on Wednesday, the military said.
A statement on the Turkish General Staff’s website said another 21 Daesh suspects, including nine children, were arrested in a separate incident in Kilis on Wednesday.
Local authorities said two Turkish nationals were among the suspects. They have been detained in custody while 19 foreigners were transferred to a migration center to be deported.
The group was attempting to cross into Turkey from Syria at Elbeyli when they were caught by security forces.
Turkish security forces have conducted anti-terrorist operations across the country since a suicide bombing in Suruc on July 20 killed 32. On Oct. 10, another Daesh-linked attack killed 103 in Ankara.
