ISTANBUL
Sami Yusuf, labeled "the biggest Muslim rock star" by TIME magazine, will perform in Kucukcekme Arena in Istanbul on March 1, 2014.
He released his first album "Al Muallim" in 2003, and became very popular not only in the Muslim world, but also worldwide as he appeared in the international media. The English daily Guardian calls him "the world's most popular English-Muslim".
Yusuf's second album "My Ummah" released in 2005 attracted great attention selling 8 million records. "Wherever You Are", his third album, sold 4 million all around the world. The latest album "Salaam" turned platinum as the most selling album of the Middle East and North Africa.
He signs his songs in English, Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Urdu, Azerbaijani, Malai with ethnic instruments and he is seen as the alternative to worldwide western music by the music authorities.
