ANKARA
Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a formal visit in Turkey in December to participate in a meeting of the Turkey-Russia High Level Cooperation Council in Istanbul.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Putin will co-chair the December 3 meeting of the council which is set to discuss ways to boost economic and trade ties and as review bilateral relations and international developments as well, Erdogan's press office said Wednesday.
Putin's press office also released a statement over the visit, saying that the council meeting will seek cooperation opportunities especially in energy and banking sectors.
The statement said Putin and Erdogan will hold separate meetings with Turkish and Russian businesspeople, adding that the two countries will also sign several agreements during the visit.
