A Turkish woman was injured by a mine planted by PKK terrorists in eastern Turkey on Tuesday.

Security sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to media, told Anadolu Agency that Gonul Parlak was injured after she stepped on a mine planted by PKK terrorists in a rural area of the eastern province of Tunceli.

The governorship of Tunceli said Parlak has been heavily injured.

Parlak was taken to Firat University Hospital in the eastern province of Elazig by military helicopter.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
