ANKARA
A PKK terrorist Turkey had offered a 1 million Turkish lira ($350,000) reward for was killed on Thursday in a counter-terrorism operation in Turkey's eastern Haskoy district in the Mus province.
The terrorist, Cemil Ates, codenamed "Hemgin Kocer", was wanted under a Turkish green notice and was on the Interior Ministry’s Most Wanted list.
According to security sources, Ates had been a regional leader of the PKK terrorist group.
In line with Turkish Interior Ministry policy, the source was not named.
The operation killed one other terrorist and captured another.
Numerous weapons and documents of the organization were seized during the operations, the sources added.
The PKK – also seen as a terrorist organization by the U.S., and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, over 350 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
