HATAY
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz said it was out of question for Turkey to have a problem with the "friendly and brotherly central Iraqi government".
Minister Yildiz's comments came in the southern province of Hatay where he arrived to attend the inauguration of a windpower plant.
Any agreement with the regional Kurdish administration (in north of Iraq), any project assumed by the (Turkish) private sector (in north of Iraq), and all oil income gets placed with the central Iraqi government and any other scenario can not be approved, Yildiz stressed.
Asked by a reporter if Turkey's problems with the central Iraqi government may (negatively) affect the oil Turkey buys from the north of Iraq, Yildiz said that "Turkey was a state of law".
"Turkey works by respecting its own laws and those of the international community. It is out of question for us to experience a problem with the friendly and brotherly central Iraqi government. We can not approve any transaction that does not get placed with the central Iraqi government. All income are to be distributed based on the Iraqi constitution and Turkey has nothing to do with it. This issue is an internal one of the Iraqi government. It is out of question for us to intervene in the domestic issues of the central Iraqi government, take a side or express any opinion. Turkey is careful about its international relations. We have relations with the energy sector in all corners of Iraq. Our relations continue at a good level," Yildiz also said.
