Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Friday that Iraq's Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi was receiving a medical treatment in Turkey.
Replying to questions on a red bulletin issued by Interpol against Iraq's Vice President al-Hashemi, Gul said that the Foreign Ministry and security units were dealing with the matter. "What is required will be done by means of security units and the ministry," he said.
Answering another question on Iraq, Gul said that Turkey did not intervene in internal affairs of another country. "But our neighbor, Iraq is in a transition process. We extend support to the country, when it rebuilds itself. Everyone in Iraq is our brother and sister. We don't make discrimination on the basis of race or sect," he said.
Turkey extended great support to Iraq during its tough days, the president said, adding that Turkey wanted Iraq to have peace and good relations with its neighbors.
In regard to discussions on a presidential system, Gul said that all these issues should be discussed thoroughly and discussions should be made through significant analyses.
